Against the odds, the Spirit Education Foundation’s Class of 2025 has achieved exceptional matric results — a testament to resilience, opportunity and collective belief.
All 29 SEF scholars successfully passed matric with Bachelor’s passes, achieving an outstanding 62 distinctions across subjects including Mathematics, English Home Language and Physical Sciences. Four learners achieved overall aggregate distinctions, reflecting not only academic excellence, but sustained commitment under challenging circumstances.
These learners come from underprivileged communities, many growing up in households impacted by poverty and unemployment. Through the SEF Scholarship Programme, they were given access to quality education, academic support, mentorship and a safe, nurturing community that allowed them to focus on their growth and future.
One scholar shared:
“Your support opened doors for me, made me feel loved, valued and seen. Because of your generosity, I have been able to focus on my academics, my growth and my future with confidence.”
Beyond the classroom, SEF camps, events and shared meals, created spaces where scholars could build leadership skills, confidence and lifelong connections. These moments reinforced that education is not only about results, but about belonging and belief.
As they take their next steps, SEF scholars are heading to leading institutions including the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, WITS, University of Johannesburg, Nelson Mandela University, UWC, CPUT, AFDA and Red & Yellow, pursuing degrees in Medicine, Engineering, Law, Commerce, Arts, Environmental Studies and Humanities.
These results are a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when young people are supported, encouraged and given access to opportunity.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our donors, partners and supporters. Your investment has not only produced academic success — it has changed lives!
